"Supporting Bee Populations in Maine & Beyond"

Saving the Honeybees is a beekeeping organization started by Hood Brook Apiary and is dedicated to preserving and protecting the declining honeybee population. We offer various sponsorship programs, including Supporter, Sponsor a Package of Bees, Sponsor a Nuc of Bees, and Sponsor a Complete Colony of Bees, to help fund our efforts in promoting beekeeping and educating the public about the importance of honeybees in our ecosystem.

BE A SUPPORTER        $50

Your 1-time SUPPORTER donation of $50 is put to good use for Apiary Operations such as feed and any needed all-natural treatments that the bees may require.  It also helps with equipment maintenance, repair, upgrades, and more.  It will also be used by cleaning up open, weed-infested areas with wildflower seed for a pollinator habitat!  This will attract honeybees, butterflies, hummingbirds, moths, and various species of bees, wasps, and hornets.

SPONSOR a "PACKAGE" of HONEYBEES        $165

Sponsoring a "Package" of Honeybees allows us to repopulate a dead-out hive or start a new one.  The package contains 3 Lbs. or about 10,000 bees.  This includes a mated queen in her own cage in the package, workers, and drones.  With a package, they start fresh with a new queen and, at that point, unrelated bees.  After the package is installed in a hive, it takes about 2 to 3 more days before the queen can be released if she hasn't done so herself by then.  Then she will start laying 1,500 to 2,000+ eggs per day making the colony swiftly grow.
